I purchased my laptop about a year ago and it runs windows 7. It is an hp pavilion dv6 notebook.The problem started when i noticed the latest java update for my laptop said, ' no product information available'. I have been warned that their are problems with java being hacked, and I was advised to simply download the current java update from java's website. When i did this java also did a scan to make sure i had the current versio of java. It said that i was up to date but had outdated versions still installed, and that i should delete them. i was able to uninstall java 6 without any problems but attempting to delete an update for it, Java 6 update 24 64 bit, results in the error message ' error 1723. there is a problem with this windows installer package. a DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. contact your support personnel or package vender.' I have looked for solutions on the web. most suggest using the windows utility tool, which is no longer availabe. another site told me to enter the windows installer file and delete everything related to java except javascript info. Unfortunately, all the files in my windows installer are strings of numbers, and i can't identify the java files. Another issue i have noticed is that when i try to run minecraft it will not allow me to play. i just get the error message, ' the registry refers to a nonexistent java runtime environment installation or the runtime is corrupted. the system cannot find the path specified'. Does anyone know how to resolve these issues?
